History

Founded by Carole Corman in 1989, Sérénade has developed an extensive repertoire of chamber music over the last two decades. The orchestra is made up of university students and young professionals working in various fields. Currently rehearsing and performing under the bâton of Hélène Gagné, the ensemble's members are united by a passion for delightful harmonies.

Sérénade is essentially a string orchestra, but includes woodwinds, brass or percussion instruments for certain concerts. From baroque to classical to romantic to contemporary sounds, the orchestra tackles a vast repertoire for every concert. On occasion, Sérénade joins other ensembles for ballet or choir performances.

The chamber orchestra performs in over ten concerts each year in the Montréal region. Sérénade offers its musical services at special events; such as: weddings or corporate functions. The string ensemble has also toured exotic countries producing enchanting melodies in The Bahamas (1989), The Dominican Republic (1996) and Mexico (1999 and 2001).

Let the sweet sounds of strings bring music to your ears as violinists, violists, cellists and bassists get their bows to caress their instruments !
